If you received a denial from FEMA but have appealed or will appeal, you may apply for this grant. However, should FEMA approve funding based on your appeal, you will have to return the grant funds for any portion of the project that ends up receiving FEMA reimbursement.

Yes. This grant program is different and you may apply for this grant even if you plan to apply for an infrastructure grant from Renew NC. Renew NC is a federally funded program with different processes and requirements.

No, you do not need to submit a new application. Your project that was already denied FEMA PA would still eligible under the new rules.

Grant funds must be spent on the project by June 30, 2030.

You should submit each project individually with their own application. Don’t hold back on applying for grants for smaller projects.

If you have multiple projects and would like to let us know which ones are your top priority, please upload a written explanation of that with your application or email us at HeleneCapitalGrants@osbm.nc.gov. We cannot guarantee we can make a grant decision based solely on your priority list, but the more information we have from which to make decisions, the better.
