Steps to Prepare Your Grant Application

    Confirm Eligiblity

    Am I located in the Hurricane Helene FEMA designated areas?

    Am I a unit of local government or federally recognized tribe?

    Was my FEMA Public Assistance denied at any point in the application process?

    Collect Information to Fill out Application Form

    1. Specific type of unit of local government or federally recognized tribe  
    2. Primary point of contact  
    3. FEMA Public Assistance Category  
    4. FEMA Public Assistance Application Status
    5. Other funding applied for or planning to apply for (project specific)
    6. Description/Summary of Infrastructure damage  
    7. Proposed project Details and Location  
      • Project Summary
      • Address, coordinates, or cross roads
      • City or nearest city

      • ZIP Code
    8. Proposed Project Dates and Cost - Anticipated Start and End date (can be in the past if project is complete)
    9. Proposed Project Total Cost - the cost of the project not considering any particular source of funding
    10. Grant Amount Requested - There is 5% cap ($2,487,500) per recipient. Please do not request more than we are statutorily able to award

    Collect Electronic Copies of Documents You Will Need to Upload into Application

    1. Damage documentation (reports, images, etc.)
    2. Proposed Project – Scope of work including breakdown of costs by category and a detailed project budget based on grant amount requested
    3. FEMA denial documentation (email, letter, or otherwise, please include a typed description if you provide a supplemental document from a formal letter)
