NC Certified State Government Budget Professional Program
Take your professional expertise and career to the next level by becoming a Certified State Government Budget Professional.
The NC Certified State Government Budget Professional Program is a collaboration between OSBM and the UNC School of Government (UNC-SOG). It provides participants with a top-notch educational experience focused on the knowledge and skills needed to be successful working with state budgets and state financial matters. Participants who successfully complete the program and pass the program exam earn certification as a State Government Budget Professional from OSBM.
Who Can Enroll?
This program is ideal for state budget staff, business managers, agency accountants, auditors, and program managers. There are no pre-requisites or special requirements to apply.
Program Overview
The program consists of three weeks of coursework held on non-consecutive weeks during the year. Classes will be held in-person, during the day, at the UNC School of Government campus in Chapel Hill.
- Week 1: Introduction to North Carolina’s Budget Process (May 20-24, 2024)
- Week 2: Understanding the Data (June 24-28, 2024)
- Week 3: Understanding the Systems and the Language of Budgeting (October 14-18, 2024)
Participants register for each week individually and may take more than one cycle to complete all three weeks of curriculum. It is highly recommended that you begin with Week 1—Introduction to North Carolina’s Budget Process.
UNC faculty will provide curriculum and instruction. There is a fee for each week of courses. See the UNC-SOG’s Program website for schedule, registration deadlines, and current fees.
