This month, 32 state employees celebrated completion of the 2023 Performance Management Academy. This 20-hour training program is offered annually by the NC Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM). The program is designed to improve performance management skills among state employees who develop, implement, manage, or evaluate programs or policies.

“It is a privilege to see these hard-working state employees investing time and energy to increase use of data and evidence to create better public policy and improved programs for North Carolinians,” said State Budget Director Kristin Walker. “I look forward to seeing the great work our Performance Management Academy graduates will achieve in years to come.”

“The Performance Management Academy is a signature program for North Carolina state employees,” explained Chief Scientist David Yokum. “Participants learn and practice a range of tactics – fundamentals such as strategic planning and evaluating performance measures, and also cutting-edge topics, such as leveraging Priority Questions and pre-analysis plans. These skills can bolster our ability to deliver results for North Carolinians.”

This is the fourth cohort of state employees to complete the Performance Management Academy, which features hands-on learning experiences and local and national speakers.
