Oracle EPM Smart View Installation Guide

This guide walks you through steps to install Oracle Smart View in your Microsoft system

What is Oracle Smart View?

Oracle Smart View is a Microsoft Excel-based analysis tool that allows quick and ad-hoc reporting on budgeting data on Oracle tools. It allows drag and drop, drill down, and pivoting options to review and update data. Smart View reports can be saved offline and refreshed with the latest, real time budgeting data from BRIDGE.  

  • This is a one-time activity of downloading and installing the Oracle Smart View EPM.
  • This guide is for Window PC only. Mac users will receive different instructions.
  • All BRIDGE users have access to Smart View. 

To Install Oracle Smart View in Your System

    Download the files to your computer

    Download Smart View files (zip)

    Unzip the file and get it ready

    Right click on the SmartView.exe file

    The action menu will expand.

    Click on Run as Administator

    NOTE: You will be prompted to close all Microsoft Office Applications to install the Oracle Smart View for Office successfully.

    Select a destination folder

    You will be prompted to select a destination folder. Keep the default folder as shown below.

    Click OK

    Close open Microsoft applications to install

    If you have any other Microsoft applications open, you must close those applications and retry the installation.

    Once the setup is complete, a pop-up message will display confirming the setup completed successfully. Click OK.

    The Oracle Smart View application will automatically install. The installation may take a few minutes while Windows completes the configuration. Once the setup is complete, a pop-up message will display confirming the setup completed successfully. Click OK.

    Verify Smart View installation

    To verify the Smart View installation, open a new blank workbook in Microsoft Excel.

    Verify that the Smart View tab now appears in the ribbon in Excel

    Set up the shared connection between your Smart View and the BRIDGE application

    Click the Smart View tab in the Excel ribbon.

    Under the Smart Tab, click Options

    The Options window displays, click Advanced

    14. Under the General section, locate the Shared Connections URL field. Replace the default link with the link below.

    This URL is for UAT instance and will change as we go to Production
