Cybersecurity Discussion for State and Local Auditors

Cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility. Join this session to find out how StateRAMP is working to help local, state, and higher education agencies better protect themselves. Rebecca Kee, StateRAMP Government Implementation Consultant, will introduce StateRAMP, provide an overview of how it works, and highlight its current members. Pamela Stroebel Powers, Director of Professional Guidance for the Public Sector with the IIA, joins the panel to share cybersecurity perspectives from the IIA.

Pamela came to the IIA with 22 years’ experience as an internal auditor in Oregon State Government. Over that time, Pam worked as an internal auditor for five agencies including the Oregon Departments of Military, Administrative Services, Lottery, Forestry and Transportation. She served as the Chief Audit Executive for four of those agencies and established the first in-house internal audit activity in two of them. Pamela also founded Powers CPA, LLC which provided internal audit, consulting, and assurance services to government and non-profit entities for five years. Pam began her career as an external auditor with the Audits Division of the Secretary of State.

Rebecca serves StateRAMP’s participating governments as a resource for StateRAMP adoption and outreach. Prior to her work with StateRAMP, Rebecca worked in state and local government procurement, most recently as the Chief Procurement Officer for the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Shawn engages with audit professionals from all segments to better understand audit trends and their impact on audit’s mission. He is currently on the TeamMate Public Sector team and was actively involved with the recent launch of TeamMate+ FedRAMP authorized cloud environment and is currently working to secure StateRAMP authorization.

  • Learn what StateRAMP is and how it operates
  • Understand what membership means for government agencies and what authorization means for providers
  • Hear recommendations from the IIA on being proactive in one’s cybersecurity posture

In order to be awarded the full credit hours, you must attend the entire session and answer at least 3 of the polling questions. CPE Certificates will be distributed the week after the webinar. Participants will earn 1.0 CPE credits.
