Our Mission

To advise state agencies on performance management initiatives and evidence-based policy efforts; highlight successful efforts and promising initiatives; and offer advice on relevant legislation, rules, or policies.

Our Vision

North Carolina state government will be nationally recognized for its culture of continuous improvement, commitment to inter-agency collaboration, and use of data, evidence, and performance management tools.

Background

The Governor's Advisory Committee on Performance Management was created in May 2018 by Executive Order No. 43 and continued in May 2022 by Executive Order No. 260. It is composed of 13 department heads, senior officials, legislators and performance experts appointed by the Governor. The committee’s role is to advise the Governor regarding the progress of the NC Results First Initiative; new performance management initiatives; proposed or pending state legislation; rules or policies related to performance management and strategies for increasing evidence-based policy efforts.

As members of the Governor's Performance Advisory Committee, we are unanimous in our support for and commitment to maximizing the use of data and evidence in the management of state programs and in budget and policy recommendations.
