Internal Controls and Transformation of Entities

The digitalization of internal controls has made it possible to test at a level far beyond “reasonable assurance.” Join us for a global perspective webinar on the impact of the digitalization on internal controls. This global webinar is based on the IAF Partner Research Report with ACCA - Impact of Digital Transformation on Internal Control.

Reasonable assurance has been a foundational concept for internal audit for quite some time. Reasonable assurance involves performing tests using controls based on samples to assess the risk and control of the all controls within auditable entities. However, current technology enables us to move from sample based testing to full population testing when data is available. By using automated digitalized testing, we are able to test controls more frequently, including all transactions and controls in near or even in real time. This session will discuss the impact of those changes within the organization’s internal audit process in terms of the level of assurance that internal audit is able to provide beyond reasonable assurance.

In this session, participants will:

  • Learn how an internal audit organization can develop from sample base testing to full population testing.
  • Examine potential organizational impacts, benefits, and risks from digitalizing internal controls.
  • Explore what real time auditing by using automated testing means to a global internal audit organization.
