Results First - Child and Family Health

For each policy area, OSBM publishes program inventories and reports. The Child & Family Health policy area includes programs that address the following outcomes in health:

  • Reduced incidences of chronic diseases, including obesity and type 2 diabetes; and
  • Improved birth outcomes, such as reducing unnecessary cesarean sections, infant mortality, low birthweight, preterm birth, small for gestational age, very low birthweight, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) admissions.

Combined with the benefit-cost analysis, the inventory may be used to better understand the programs that have impacts on birth outcomes and their levels of evidence, helping to inform program design and resource allocation across programs.
